Training

With all our sessions, we try our very best to incorporate fun and make it enjoyable for all abilities, along with the seriousness of instructing our members.

Winter Pool Training

During the winter pool training, we aim to:

  • Improve swimming techniques
  • Build stamina
  • Provide basic lifesaving skills
  • Work towards being able to complete the timed swim requirements for the summer beach exams

Important Information

  • Sessions are held at the Bournemouth Collegiate School pool.
  • All members must be able to swim 25m
  • Club swim hats must be worn (SSLSC hats - £4, Nipper hats - £3)
  • No spectators are allowed on the poolside
  • Males must wear swimming trunks or jammers (no baggy shorts)
  • Females must wear all in ones (no bikinis)

Summer Beach Training

All summer training is undertaken at our club house down at Southbourne beach.

Members aged 16 and over are encouraged to work towards various lifesaving awards, including the Beach Lifeguard award required for employment as a professional beach lifeguard in the UK (like the RNLI) and abroad.
